A claim will not succeed if the local authority was unaware of the problem before any problem occurs.

Local authority will dismiss any claim of pot hole damage if problem was known about and local authority were not informed about the specific pot hole from claimant prior to a claim being put forward.

I am Afraid you have just quashed your claim already by your first post Alison when putting the 2 together. But i would still try at minimal cost to yourself.
