Hardly nimbyism Mark - don't know about you but my garden doesn't stretch as far as Central London. The argument is about how to best use funds - with people having benefits cut, old people stuck in their homes with nothing but a flying 10 minutes visit from a hard-pressed carer, meals on wheels and day centres cut, hospitals stretched to breaking point and sometimes beyond, a internationally renowned centre of scientific research as well as beauty like Kew Gardens having its budget severely restricted which will have a big impact on it future, our green spaces sold off to make money for councils apparently because we need it - and for what? To build a 'garden bridge' which no one sees a real need for. Don't think that is what nimbyism is about unless you have a different understanding of the acronym. |
