The voting system - single transferable vote - does that for them, and I think it's important that the election makes visible the support for the various bits of the spectrum within Labour. For example, if Liz Kendall stepped down we'd have no measure of support for the Blairite position, and we'd have Cooper and Burnham defining the right wing of the party, so shifting everything leftward. |
