Re Lost Property & the police. Whether a police station is open or not, the Met police no longer deal in any form of Lost Property. ie If you find something valuable on the street or in a public place there is no facility to hand it in anywhere, whether it is a piece of jewellery, cash, or anything else. So if any honest person finds something, unless there is a definite link that they can pursue, they effectively become a thief as the Met also has an offence called 'theft by finding'. I have asked officers on the street about this recently as I was personally affected & they can not come up with an answer as to what you are supposed to do if you find or lose something valuable. |
