Do not go to any hospital at the weekend. The diagnostic labs, X rays, etc. closed till Monday. The doctors are newly qualified (panicking) who do not have enough experience. There is probably a consultant on duty somewhere but he won't have the theatres, labs, etc. to help him deal with any problems and the patient will be expected to last out till Monday when he may get the treatment he needs. Hospitals are run by the trusts who are just managerial staff. When funds are low, they cut front line staff not themselves. When savings are to be made, they make them by cutting front line staff and services not by reducing pen pushers. The health service should be run by medical staff not pen pushers and it is not fit for purpose. |
