| Is my memory correct? Originally Empire house was in the High Road conservation Zone as it was designated from Sutton Lane to Chiswick Lane. The new zone starts much further east after Turnham Green (the actual green). This means that the whole frontage of Turnham Green and more - the very section we are trying to save from monstrous over development - is vulnerable to redevelopment from the likes of Lend Lease. We know that there was a probe from Carpet Right/Daniel Beds to redevelop their site with a 14 storey building. Even at half that, it is too much. I am probably getting paranoic but it does seem a strange point to draw the line. |
