Avoid West Middlesex at the weekend I was called to west mid A & E to back up my Granddaughter who had taken her young child there with a baldly swollen face. What I witness was like something like an aftermath of a battle scene. The people in the Paediatric department (I wont call them doctors) played a long guessing game and were going to send her home with pain killers and antibiotics without knowing what was causing the problem. They didn’t do any blood tests that may have given some idea as to the problem. A wild guess at an abbess was suggested, I said, surly a simple X ray, would show that? But they do not have the necessary equipment to do that at West Mid, nearest hospital for that is Northwick Park. We didn’t feel happy about taking her home and being responsible for such an ill child, so I had to start throwing my weight around to get them to take her in hospital for observation overnight. On the way out we began to realise how bad the situation of the A & E department was, One patient who was in the waiting room collapsed and died, and the ambulances turning up with emergencies to the hospital, were leaving them in the normal waiting room. Is this really the way to run an hospital? This is a joke, I thought the hospital would have got better after being taken over by Chelsea and Westminster, but in my opinion it's gone down hill even more.. |
