The problem with doing it on minor roads is paying someone to administer it. Thames Water are, of course, a private company and are beholden to shareholders, not you. As part of the liberalisation of the utilities they were given the right to dig roads up. Cut down on red tape, dontchaknow. I'm sure you'll find a way of blaming the council for this though, Dan. (I wouldn't be entirely sure about things being better abroad. Mind you, the last foreign city I was in was Naples, which has spent the last 2000 years being dug up) |
