"Has anyone heard about a Town Square for Chiswick?" The answer is YES.

In 1997 a CHISWICK TOWN CENTRE ACTION PLAN was published by LBH. The plan identified a number of Focal Points, one of which was the area near the Police Station. A number of residents took particular interest and I drew up and submitted a proposal for a Town Square. This was presented to the then Chiswick Forum, The Police, Residents Associations and the Traders Association. Details were  published in the Local Press and there was a good deal of support including support of some Councillors. Budget constraints at the time put the proposal on hold.

Then in 2013 LBH initiated at further expense a CHISWICK CHARACTER STUDY for consultation. Again there was a lot of written local response. My response included details of the original proposal with drawings and evidence for a Town Square.

During the recent very successful Food Festival along the High Road, a number of visitors remarked to me that "we should have a Town Square here". This prompted me to email our Town Manager Rachel Victor-Sampson with the details I have outlined above together with supporting evidence.

The Chiswick High Road Action Group (CHRAG) are aware of this and are very supportive.

Now in my 80s, I am not as active in design matters but would still support any any three dimensional outcome from all these initiatives. There have been many improvements in other parts of the Borough; it is my opinion that it is Chiswick's turn.
