I think the bottleneck at Chiswick Roundabout is the road going to and over Kew Bridge and nothing can be really done about that (I don't think widening Kew Bridge and tarmacing over Kew Green are likely...) Improvements to Chiswick Roundabout/Kew Bridge are meant to be part of TfL's "better junctions" program but not until 2016 or 2017. I can't see there being any capacity increase. Maybe it can be made be less horrendous for people on foot given the increased residential development planned for that area. The only real solution to congestion is less traffic. Will the next Mayor of London be brave enough to advocate extending road pricing/congestion charging? |
