Jill,

In the past, when I have found birds injured on the road,
having been hit by cars BTW, this is what I did.

Once I took a wood pigeon to Southall RSPCA. Maybe give them a call to see if they will take it in.

A couple of years ago, I took an injured pigeon to Blue Cross Hammersmith.

Another time I found a hurt pigeon, called the RSPCA and waited 9 hours for them to come. Then they gave him a (lethal) injection in the back of the van.

Last year I found a fledgling magpie who had fallen out of the nest. After two days living in a cage in my bathroom quite happily being fed by me, I found a bird rescue sanctuary and they took it in. I think this may be the number:

London Wildlife Protection Ltd

07909795064  or  07947475147 .

Will either care for birds themselves or transport to a no kill rescue centre.

In the first two cases the birds were probably euthanised.
I think the magpie made it though!

I got no joy from the RSPB though.
