"..the angling argument.." Foxes are mammals, and therefore much closer to humans genetically than fish or birds. This may be an important factor in differentiating between fox hunting, angling and pheasant shooting. Personally I don't like the idea of humans getting pleasure from killing any animal, fish or bird, and do not take part in any blood sports. Having said that, taking the lives of certain types of insect has never bothered me, although I believe even that is banned for strict Buddhists. This country has advanced over the years in that bear-baiting and cock-fighting are now banned, but some of our fellow-members of the EU still lag behind with their bullfights etc. |
