It's nearly 50 years since I did company law, so I'm not exactly up-to-date on the subject! However, I'm not aware of any provision in company law which makes it illegal for an unregistered company to call itself limited. I can't imagine why anyone would want to do this, unless they're trying to give the impression of a more substantial enterprise than is the reality. Depending on the reason for making it, is it possible that this might constitute a false representation for the purposes of section 2 of the Fraud Act? |
