Have you tried FreeBMD ? Much easier than going to the National Archives at Kew (which is where what used to be at St Catherine's House and subsequently the Family Records Centre are now kept). http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ The records and registers remained at Somerset House for nearly 150 years until 1970, when the General Register Office was moved from Somerset House to St Catherine's House. The records were held at St Catherine's House until 1997, when they were transferred to the Family Records Centre at Myddleton Street in North London. It opened in March 1997 and closed in 2008. |
