Just thought that there are lots of suggestions in particular the one about sash windows that many people won't have thought of first or know about before rushing out to buy a quick fix.

The other thing I don't like about portable AC is the noise! They don't show that in the picture on the box.  Oh for buildings designed to deal with the differences in weather we get in the UK.

Also there are so many concreted drives and patios that not only do these add to the heat but when the rain does come there is more likely to be flooding. I like sitting in the dappled shade of a tree and feeling the coolness of the real grass under my toes.
