There are quite a few designs for safer trucks and rather than the traditional "box" cab they have rounder fronts, wrapped glass, different driver position as well as things like cameras and sensors that can also be fitted to conventional trucks. Also I believe that tipper trucks still aren't required to have "side skirts" so it is no surprise that they have been involved in many collisions. There is actually EU legislation to mandate this type of lorry... by 2022. Lobbying by certain truck companies and their national governments (France and Sweden) meant it was delayed. |
