It's extraordinary really that we simply accept that HGVs have massive blind spots. While cars, since the 70s, have been improved immeasurably to improve the safety of the passengers and the chances of survival of any pedestrians they come into contact with - lorries seem to have hardly changed at all. If you set off in winter with snow all over parts of your windscreen you may be ticketed due to your impaired vision however if you design a vehicle with hopeless side vision then it seems to be the third parties fault for not anticipating the lack of vision of the driver. |
