Another cyclist has died in a collision with a tipper truck at a road junction in central London. How many more cyclists have to become victims of these lorries before an effective solution is found to stop anyone else suffering these horrific injuries.Cycle lanes would be an obvious answer, but the cyclists would still have to negotiate road junctions where most of these accidents happen.Lorries making left hand turns appear to cause most of these accidents.Education for both cyclists, and the drivers would go a long way to stopping these accidents.Cyclists must stop approaching these junctions on the near side of these lorries when they are stopped at junctions.Simple measures could stop any more cyclists sustaining these dreadful crush injuries, but how do we get the message across to both drivers and cyclists ? |
