Surprised to see Rupa Huq supporting Jeremy Corbyn as she struck me as being quite centre left in the local hustings. There is much to admire about Jeremy Corbyn particularly his early adoption of the highly unpopular stance of talking to Sinn Fein in the eighties but he would make Ed Miliband look like a relatively sane choice. He divorced his wife because she didn't want to send their children to the local failing comprehensive but to a grammar school instead. His principled stand looks a tad hypocritical given he himself went to a grammar school. With ministerial experience and no whiff of the Mertropolitan elite about him choosing Andy Burnham would be a chance for Labour to put the mistake of not choosing David Miliband behind them. The way this campaign is shaping up, it looks like they are comfortable in opposition so I'm not putting any money on him. |
