thank you Philippa for suggestion of Contact The Elderly & it's a great organisation however I'm not sure it would work now with Joans Dementia. Joan loves going out for drives in the car but also I think would enjoy more someone coming and having tea with her. I think there are probably volunteer groups that do that kind of thing too but I've not researched it yet.
