Residents in the Ealing half of the conservation area are being urged by the Bedford Park Society to write to the council in protest and to sign the LibDem petition at http://
The council say that it will go ahead regardless of protest. The previous consultation some years ago "was in connection with the use of wheelie bins from a purely storage based perspective".
Apparently that is not now the case! They do not need to legally consult.
The council is now reneging on a previous suggestion that it would carry out a borough-wide survey to identify where bin provision is not appropriate. An earlier council paper also stated that properties with no front garden or alleyway would continue to have waste  collected in refuse and recycling sacks.
Gary Malcolm predicts that all that will occur is that some members of the council and contractors Amey will turn up and assess each street and ( probably not in a very detailed manner) assume that most properties can house two wheelie bins.
A recent Supreme Court case requiring councils to consult about the effect of such a proposal on residents is being investigated.
