Epsom & Ewell list pet food amongst food you can put in your food waste bin. I'd be sure if I did this that I wrapped it carefully fish-and-chips-style in newspaper as there is a greater likelihood than with human food - well hopefully that is - that it will be fly blown. Remember that the life cycle of a fly is speeded up by hot weather. Generally I believe that egg to larva is 24 hours and I believe that the life cycle can be complete in a week. So this could be problematic and a reason for it not be listed as a 'yes' item. https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1LDJZ_enGB513GB536&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=musca+domestica+life+cycle+images Obviously trying to avoid the waste in the first place has to be the best option but it can be difficult. |
