The Guardian article though old gives a good overview. Yes, they should get the minimum wage. There should be a sensible amount of time allocated AND GIVEN to each care client. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/news/11302534/Revealed-more-than-500000-home-care-visits-last-less-than-five-minutes.html I notice that one of the Councils asked for info under the Freedom of Info Act said that they had recorded no calls of 5 min. Is that perhaps because the carer recorder the time they were supposed to stay and not the time they actually stayed I wonder. Look at these care workers timetables and you will realise that it is impossible to carry out all the calls timetabled allocating the correct amount of time. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2954910/Shock-toll-5-minute-care-visits-Hundreds-thousands-elderly-suffer-drive-bys.html So really it is a case of just filling in the book to show you've been and not even having the time to say hello. |
