Fewer house sales as opposed to flats does reduce the average price in Chiswick. But housing prices have slipped in London over most of the last year. The huge leaps in the previous 2 or 3 years have dried up. And thank goodness. First time buyers in London are now on average 41 ! - and that's the average, so some are older. If you're a homeowner in Chiswick, you're probably sitting on a lot of equity - great !( but you cant easily use it). And it helps you to be able to move within the area. But young adults are being priced out. Where are your kids going to live ? There are plenty of areas in the UK where prices are still below the 2007/8 peak. So homeowners in Chiswick might want to be grateful for the equity they have, but hope prices don't continue to rocket ahead of salaries, unless their happy their kids are going to end up buying in Coventry or Bradford or anywhere else housing remains relatively affordable. |
