Your headline is quite misleading. Sales volumes and prices have both been falling in recent months. The agents quoted forecast a growth in VOLUME based on previous post election figures. They do NOT forecast rising prices. Thank goodness many would say. At over £530k for a flat, Chiswick is becoming unattainable for all but a few. Woe betide any young Chiswick couple wanting to buy near their parents and friends. The reason prices have been falling is not the imminent threat of a mansion tax, but simply that houses here are unaffordable unless you're already on the local property ladder or very wealthy. Do we want an area where all our teachers, medical staff, tradesmen, retail staff are all shipped in from outlying "ghettos for workers" ? If so,we'll soon have a sterile community rather than the vibrant one that has thrived in Chiswick over the last 40 years |
