Pete I've stood against Labour in Isleworth so I've seen things that would make your hair curl when it comes to electoral dodgy practice, but unless you have some evidence to speak of then the assumption has to be that an election was conducted properly. It is not at all unusual to have MPs from a different party to the Council. Just to give one example off the top of my head - in 2010 Ann Keen, surprisingly, won more votes in Osterley % Spring Grove ward than her Conservative rival. And yet the ward returned three Conservative councillors with comfortable majorities. No rhyme nor reason to that, but it happened. The other piece of "evidence" that I have heard mentioned is that the declaration kept being put off to a later time than had previously been indicated. If this is indicative of fraud then there must be a lot of it about as I don't think I've ever attended a count where this hasn't happened. Don't get me wrong, I don't trust this system any further than I could throw Eric Pickles. Like I say, I've seen it all. But I can't see that UKIP have made the case here unless I have missed something significant. |
