Does that mean that they are committing to abandoning totally the Shaping a Healthier Future plan? This was drawn up by NHS Management and clinicians who were given the brief to come up with a plan how they wanted the local service structured. It was the subject of a very long consultation process and has already been part implemented. Has Andy Burnham consulted with the NHS on the impact of abandoning the plan half way through? Isn't the 'closure' of Charing Cross key to the whole scheme because the sale of the property provide funds to build a new smaller hospital on the site plus facilities elsewhere. Won't keeping the old Charing Cross building open leave the NHS with an ageing, expensive to maintain building that is no longer suitable for their needs? |
