Leaving aside Ben E King's solo career (which is not just "Stand by me" despite comments made) the time he was lead singer in the Drifters and the hits of that period was their golden era without a doubt. Remembered fondly in the Midlands and North of England especially where Ben's constant touring and many "two venues per night" tours in the '60s & '70s led to many soul fans seeing him live regularly. |
