'Therefore I'm surprised that Ms Macleod has not commented on this controversial issue?' Has anybody else noticed the increase in the (mis)use of the question mark in this way? I see it a lot and wonder whether it is a new trend (which may in time pass into accepted usage) or whether it is just that a good number of people don't know when or where to use a question mark. (We of course all sometimes make mistakes, typos or otherwise, - this 'trend' seems something different altogether though.) |
