Arms companies do not only supply foreign armed forces. There is a huge market in civilian firearms. And many of the weapons designed for combat are also available for the civilian market, albeit in a different configuration. Many assault rifles are sold to civilians and although they will still have a 30 or 40 shot magazine, they will only fire one shot at a time and have no rapid fire ability in this country. Some countries abroad do allow civillians to own rapid, and burst fire weapons. The civilian gun trade is huge in a lot of countries, and even in Britain with it's strict firearms laws, shooting is a growing sport. |
