Thomas, if I have had a 'pop' at you it is because of your relentless negativity about the idea of a Piccadilly line stop on which I think you are dead wrong. On the other hand your relentless negativity about TfL's ability to deliver improvements ontime has always seemed to me to be well-informed and accurate. Although your grasp of the detail is impressive you are missing the broader picture. Just because TfL have said that a full Turnham Green service will not be in place until signalling improvements have been implemented this does not rule out any increased service between now and the final completion of the project. A significant upgrade of the service once Crossrail is in place makes good sense. I spoke to someone who was at the hustings and she confirmed that Angie Bray did indeed say this was what was happening. I'm surprised the Conservatives are not making more of what appears to be a significant and new concession from TfL but maybe they are opportunistically holding this back until the final week before the election. Ultimately this is as much a political decision as opposed to an engineering one. The two local constituencies are key marginals and Turnham Green is an important issue for a significant proportion of the electorate. A concession on a Piccadilly line service now will also be useful at the time of the next election (assuming the next Government lasts a full term) because it will be due to be implemented at that time. |
