If I recall correctly, an Overground interchange station with Crossrail isn't planned until 2026, so will be after the District line re-signalling assuming it completes in 2022. Piccadilly line stopping at Turnham Green won't be until 2025 at the earliest. One of the objectives of the 2022 District line re-signalling is to increase the frequency of the Richmond branch services so if these trains fill up, there will be a lot more stress on Gunnersbury long before a Crossrail Overground interchange at OOC or a Piccadilly line interchange at Turnham Green. I'm not convinced it will be easy to persuade passengers already on the District line going to Gunnersbury to get off and get a bus instead. There already is a (sort of...) a shuttle bus to Gunnersbury - the number 27 and I think the E10 route will also be extended to the Business Park as well. I've said this on other threads but the only long term solution for Gunnersbury is re-instate a platform and stairway where one of the car parks are at the moment. |
