If you assume Crossrail users in Chiswick will generally be commuting into West End/City the journey time via Gunnersbury and Old Oak will be much shorter than Turnham Green and Ealing. You've missed the point about the tube service. As I said if you are already on a District line heading to Gunnersbury you stay on but if you are on a Piccadilly line train heading to Acton Town but stopping at Turnham Green you have three choices - get off and switch to the District line; stay on and get the shuttle back from Acton Town or get off and take shuttle from Turnham Green. Richmond branch irregularity in the morning means that there will generally be a wait for the tube to Gunnersbury and carrying on to Acton Town is likely to take longer. The journey time of a shuttle bus from Bedford Corner to Chiswick Business Park isn't likely to be delayed by traffic if it takes the Bollo Lane route to the back of the business park. Delays could arise because of the level crossings but smart timetabling should avoid unnecessary waits. It shouldn't be difficult to create a shuttle service that was more regular and had an equivalent average journey time to the District line service. If you had on some sort of incentive for business park employees to use the shuttle rather than Gunnersbury station you could reduce use significantly during the morning rush at no cost. The second entrance would be a good idea but how realistic it actually is is debatable given that people have been proposing it for years and it has been regularly rejected. |
