Viv, the car is a Mitsubishi Outlander, and the way it runs is very clever. It runs almost exclusively on battery power, unless you want the petrol engine to kick in.It will do about 30 miles on the batteries before they run down. Then the petrol engine kicks in, but it acts as a generator to recharge the batteries (which are under the floor so you don't lose any boot space). The car also has re-generative braking, so braking also charges the batteries. The car will do 75 mph on battery power, any faster and the petrol engine cuts in alongside the batteries giving you 208 bhp.You can also charge the batteries from a power point at home so you wouldn't have to buy any more petrol if you were careful with your driving. It is a very clever car.
