On Sunday afternoon a flyer was pushed through the door advertising a beer tasting dinner at The Italian Job on Tuesday night. My wife and I decided to go and had a most enjoyable evening. The Italian food was excellent and, as a beer lover, the accompanying beer tastings were very interesting. The evening was hosted by Agostino Arioli, who founded his Italian craft brewery in 1996, well before the current craft beer cult began. He was personable, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his beers. The evening was well organised, with good service and a very pleasant atmosphere. We will be back and would encourage people to try the place. As a long term resident of Devonshire Road and a lover of Pickwicks (even saw Chris De Burgh do his late night cameo), I am aware that it may take them time to be accepted and integrated into Chiswick culture, but do give them a chance. They are good, and original, not an estate agent or charity shop, and bring something new to the community. |
