It depends how local you want it to be.  The Mayhew Animal Home near Willesden Junction (5 minutes on the overground from North Acton, a few minutes longer from Gunnersbury) is always looking for donations to help towards the rescue of dogs and cats and the neutering of feral cats as well as education in animal welfare, their Therapaws initiative where dogs and cats are taken into care homes to meet the sick and elderly and many other initiatives including international training of vets, overseas animal rescue etc.   Or Hounslow Animal Rescue is another local charity always in need of funds.   Animal charities get no national funding whatsoever and are totally dependent on support from the public.
