| I am currently on crutches after a major operation, with instructions to be off my foot as much as possible. I wanted to take some friends over from US out to Hare and Tortoise last night to try it out for the first time. I rang to book a table; they said they didn't take bookings and we would just have to turn up and try our luck. I explained my situation and that I can't walk far or stand around and said we would be there in 10- 15 minutes if they could please hold a table. They refused. I find it bemusing that a restaurant would be so unobliging; especially as a fairly new arrival in the area and on a Sunday night. I appreciate I was asking them to make an exception, but surely showing some consideration for a customer's needs would be preferable to losing the customer completely. My curiosity has now waned, and I won't be eating there even when back on my feet. We went to the lovely Jackson and Rye instead; who were faultless as always, and had a great evening! |
