Good to hear someone is actually repairing something rather that just chucking it out.
My daughter called us the make do and mend parents. It was not meant as a compliment but I see it as one.
Back to your problem.
Clearly you need a good job as you don't want the handles to fall of full of boiling water for example.
Without seeing them I can't be sure but it may be possible to drill the rivets out and replace with rust proof nuts and bolts locked into position.
