Disgraceful! There is only one reason for this and that is cost cutting. Queues are often ridiculously long as it is causing huge delays when the offices are closed and the continual problems faced by Oystercard users (of whom I am not one) cannot usually be solved by a machine nor by a member of the staff at the barrier. I for one will not feel as safe travelling and dread the many occassions when signalling failures and the like cause massive congestion at Turnham Green. Not so incidentally, Turnham Green has one of the highest suicide rates for a suburban station: how will they be dealt with by a single memebr of staff? |
