Hi Maggie I didn't and wouldn't stick up for each and every person who works or worked at LBH. I was mainly commenting on salaries and workloads. Most managers simply have too much to do and too few resources to do it with. Of course there's always room for improvement on some if not all quarters, but my experience is that the senior people are on a par with and in many cases better than private sector counterparts, few of whom commonly need to spread themselves quite so thinly or turn their hands to so many different issues. As for Fiona's nonsensical assertion that any manager worth his or her salt should immediately sack half their staff - does she not realise how stupid that sounds particularly in the context of the last few years of local authority downsizing? Just perhaps the reduction in telephone operators is the reason she can't apparently get anyone to answer the phone! |
