Of course, what Sam's omitted there, doubtless for reasons of time, is that the incoming government, having pledged no top down NHS reorganisation, then promptly did exactly that based on a report from...McKinsey, who I'm not remotely surprised to see cleaning up at the other end of the process too - sharks gonna shark, after all. As with education, the consequence of adopting public service reform policies designed by and for spivs is spivocracy, not public services. Basically, I'm not sure the moral high ground's there for the taking, Sam. Your party practically invented this racket, and many of us over here in the centre ground (remember us? Yoohoo!) criticise the 1997-2010 government precisely because it followed suit rather than binning all that nonsense. |
