I used the Bath Road pedestrian crossing by the Tabard quite regularly over many years. It always seemed perfectly OK. What made it necessary to spend (presumably) a large sum of money digging it all up and replacing it?

I also noticed this weekend a number of other cosmetic roadworks, replacing kerbs and corners, and the like. Why are these all being done? Nothing was decrepit or falling to pieces. I thought we didn't have any money. How come we have all this money to pay for unnecessary cosmetic street works?

At the same time we are closing old peoples daycare / drop in centres. I don't get it.
