My father who had dementia was at one time in a Bupa home, it looked modern and lovely but he was very frightened because other people were allowed to randomly walk into his room, this was a big issue for him.Check out also their policy and staffing for the nighttime because people with dementia will often be up and about at night and you need a home where this is not considered a problem. Another very small home he was in tried to make him go back to his room he then became somewhat violent because he was angry. He finally settled into a home where the manager was kind and insisted on his staff giving their best to everyone. He insisted if someone needed help it was actioned immediately. Dementia is horrible and cruel, I hope you find somewhere nice, go on your gut feeling and if its not working out find somewhere else. |
