Many thanks again - the - =IF(LEFT(A2,7)="Peanuts",MID(A2,8,999),IF(LEFT(A2,9)="Butternut",MID(A2,10,999),A2)) works well (with slight adjustment) and just needs to be located in a new col and then its output copied (to a new col also) using Paste Special Values so that the formula once used can the disposed of. I'm not sure what the max characters I have in the cells its possibly 2000 ish (so I changed the 999 to 2000)- it seems the max allowed in a cell is 32k - can that be right? Metteo - the VBA RemoveText() is brilliant also! but in my case it conks out with "Out of Memory" after its processed about 30 cells. Could this be due to there being too much txt in one cell for it to handle? Just to confirm, the two words I need stripped out are at the start of the line only. Thanks. |
