I work for a feral cat-rescue charity, and I can confirm that in some areas of the country a cat turned over to the RSPCA won't live to see another dawn. However, I also can confirm that here in Northwest London there are many people who are delighted with the cats they've taken from the RSPCA. Also, just before Christmas I was helping a friend with a kitten that needed a home in Northeast London, and the RSPCA were brilliant. I think it probably simply depends on the personnel and the situation involved in each area. Anyway, I think the RSPCA is coming today to get the cat, so fingers crossed that's she's a Lucky Little Black Cat. I do know that most shelters will tell you that the black cats are always the last to be homed, which I don't understand at all, as they are usually SO beautiful! |
