I am a revolutionary socialist, can't drive and don't have a television. What do I find myself visiting a neighbour's to watch? Top Gear (and University Challenge because I beat him hands down every week). I suspect if one really wanted to know about buying a car then a copy of Which? would be more useful. Thank goodness we no longer have beige William Woollard driving a beige car and talking about other beige cars. I would probably disagree with Jeremy Clarkson on most topics but he is a consummate juornalist - if you have any doubt, watch the documentary that he made about the Arctic convoys. Terrific stuff. He has a public persona which he flaunts and I am sure that he enjoys the predictable reactions. Whilst not of course condoning violence in the workplace or anywhere else, it is alleged that the punch was aimed rather than met it's intended target and I can understand Clarkson feeling a bit miffed that, after a day's filming in an outdoor location, possibly far away from facilities, that some little twerp of a producer could not be bothered to provide catering. After all, it's not as if the show is on a tight budget. |
