Anna, garden lighting is great but do make sure you get a good electrician. The problems occur when they connect the electrics to the fuse board as they frequently piggy back onto an existing circuit and then you get all sorts of problems with the fuse frequently blowing. Few fuse boards have spare capacity and ideally the garden circuit should be on its own and any outside sockets (for power tools etc.) have safety covers and circuit protectors/breakers. Do not let them attach anything to the fuse to which your alarm system is attached.
