| Anything an infant may find distressing and, as a consequence, internalizes. This doesn't have to be monumental. It doesn't have to be abuse, or anything to that extent. It can be the stress of a family home, the emotional state of the mother during or after pregnancy. There are many things, of this nature, that may contribute. Most of these things are interconnected to the state of our society as a whole as we cannot be viewed separately from our environment. This is partly why the issue itself is so complex. |
