Yes, lose yourself on distant islands, far away from the hordes of Chinese invaders around San Marco. Take the vaporetto to the Giudecca, and see the great Palladio churches, Il Redentore, Le Zitelle and, on the way, San Giorgio. The food is better and cheaper than almost anywhere on the main island and you can explore in peace. Try I Figli delle Stelle, close to Le Zitelle - not the cheapest food on the Giudecca but incomparably good, and right on the waterfront, with a perfect view of what you've left behind. |
