I wonder if anyone has experienced the sort of problems I'm currently having with a very noisy neighbour who lives opposite me in a block of flats, in which noise travels very easily along the concrete floors in corridors.  EG you can her noise parties down the other end of your corridor, or indeed 2 floors down.

this is an elderly lady (and before anyone accuses me of ageism, I am a pensioner myself) of middle eastern origin where they obviously have a very different attitude towards noise and general disturbance to neighbours.  For example here telephone conversations are like a shouting match which can be heard from 100 yards down the corridor, and she thinks nothing of letting her grandsons play football up and down the corridor.

My current problem is she is waking me up in the middle of the night, by banging her internal doors closed, in the mistaken belief that I will then not hear her radio or TV when she turns them on at 3am.  I have tried to discuss this with her, but she just starts shouting at me and gets very aggressive and now refuses to open her door to me at all.

I tried enlisting the help of my estate manager, and making friends with her, but although she has indeed asked for my help on several occasions - which I gave willingly - she continues to completely disregard any consideration regarding the level of noise she produces.

I am going out of my mind with losing what little sleep I get - I wake easily and once woken, that's it.

Yes, I am the person who posted some time ago re aircraft noise, so if you read that thread you will know that earplugs don't work for me.

I just don't know where to turn to next - if there is indeed anywhere, the hounslow website seems to deal only with more 'public' noise, such as external.

Any advice or experiences would be gratefully received.
